The process necessary to set you up with braces typically takes an hour or two.  It is possible you will have braces in your mouth within two appointments or less.  Though there is the potential for elevated pressure when braces are added to the mouth, they will not hurt.  The dentist might use spacers if the teeth in the back of the mouth are particularly close to one another.  Spacers or rubber bands are added around a week prior to the application of braces. 

The dentist will ensure the teeth are clean and dry prior to gluing on the dental braces’ brackets.  These devices hold the wires in position.  A blue light is used to set the glue.  A bracket is put within the center of the tooth.  The arch wires are attacked to the brackets. Attachments might be glued to the teeth so they move into place in an efficient manner.  Bonding material in the shape of mounds might also be attached to the teeth by the back of the mouth that ensure you can move your teeth to the right positions.
